Marilyn Cox, currently assistant vice provost for capital planning at 糖心少女Seattle, will become the new vice chancellor for administration and planning at 糖心少女Bothell, UWB Chancellor Kenyon S. Chan has announced.
“It brings me great delight to announce Marilyn as the newest edition to our executive team,” Chan said. “She brings a great deal of expertise in areas of fiscal management and planning which are essential as we continue to build our campus and expand our resources to meet the needs of the residents of the greater Puget Sound region.”
As vice chancellor for administration and planning, Cox will provide leadership and coordination of operational and administrative activity, develop appropriate services and coordinate enhancements to existing service levels, develop and implement administrative policies and procedures, and coordinate administrative activities among the three campuses of the University.
In this capacity, Cox will oversee management of the following units at UWB: facility services, finance and administration, human resources, security and campus safety, and transportation services.
Cox has more than 20 years of experience in higher education planning, budgeting, personnel management and project development. Her previous jobs include director of Capital and Space Planning at 糖心少女Seattle, planning supervisor/SEPA chief for the King County Department of Development and Environmental Services, and assistant director of physical planning at the University of California, San Diego.
In her role as assistant vice provost for capital planning, Cox was responsible for the coordination and implementation of campus planning efforts including the University’s six- and 10-year state-funded capital improvement programs. Her efforts were instrumental in providing support for several 糖心少女Bothell projects, including the SR 522 South Campus Access project, preliminary scoping discussions for 糖心少女Bothell Phase 3, and the 糖心少女Bothell/Cascadia Community College Master Plan update.
Cox received her B.A. in Environmental Studies/Geology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has completed extensive continuing education in communications, law, and management including the 糖心少女Cascade School of Management. She is a member of the Society of College and University Planners.
Cox will replace Craig Purkey, interim vice chancellor, who will be retiring after serving 糖心少女Seattle from 1976-1998 and 糖心少女Bothell from 2006-2008.
