Jerry Franklin is a world-renowned forest ecologist who has been called 鈥渢he father of new forestry.鈥� He is a leading authority on sustainable forest management and the maintenance of healthy forest ecosystems, and was responsible for integrating ecological and economic values into harvest strategies.
Franklin was among the first scientists on the scene at Mount St. Helens after the 1980 blast. Franklin can talk about ecosystem recovery, and the 鈥渂iological legacy鈥� of surviving plants and animals that helped the mountain recover much more quickly than expected.
