Add new directory entry

Step 1: Add new directory entry

On the lefthand toolbar,听under 鈥淒irectory,鈥�听click 鈥淎ll Directory Entries.鈥� Then,听press the听button at the top of the听screen labelled 鈥淎dd New Directory 贰苍迟谤测.鈥�

Alternatively, on the lefthand toolbar, click 鈥淎dd New Directory Entry鈥� to simply add a new entry.

Step 2: Enter required inputs

  • Entry title: Add the title of the Directory Entry (usually the name of the person)
  • Image: Add a headshot of听the person. The suggested image size is 540px x 360px, or a 3:2 aspect ratio.
    • ** Note: If no image is selected, a placeholder image听will be used.
  • First name:听Enter first name
  • Last name:听Enter last name
  • Team/Category: Select the appropriate team/category听from the dropdown menu (Learn more about how to add new teams/catagories below.)
  • Title of person:听Enter the title/position

Step 3: Enter optional inputs

  • Pronouns: Enter pronouns
  • Email:听Enter email address
  • Website:听Enter website URL
  • LinkedIn:听Enter LinkedIn URL
  • Bio:听Enter any additional information within a 1000-character limit

** Note: The bio section supports light HTML markup to style text.

Step 4: Publish entry

Once you are done with your entry, click 鈥淧ublish.鈥� Repeat Step 2 and 3 until all the entries are finished.听听

Add new team/category

There are two different ways to add new teams/categories:

Adding a new team using the “+” button

If the desired team is not listed, press the 鈥�+鈥� button on the right of the dropdown labelled 鈥淭eam/Category鈥� to add a new team.听听听

If the team you are adding is within听a larger听team or听department听in the organizational听hierarchy, select the name of that team as the ‘parent’. (Ex. The UMAC Web Strategy Team is a team within the UMAC Digital Strategy Team, making Digital Strategy the ‘parent’ team of Web Strategy.)

Press 鈥淎dd鈥� when completed.听

Alternatively, click 鈥淒epartments鈥� on the lefthand toolbar to add a new team/category.听

If adding a team/category this way there are two听additional, and optional, inputs. 听

  • Slug: the URL-friendly version of the name of the team or department. It is usually all听lowercase听and听contains听only letters, numbers, and hyphens.
  • Description: any听additional information on the team to be included. The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it.

Display the directory

To embed the directory into a specific page, type in [uw_directory] on the page you want to display it on.

Depending on the use case/builder needs, there are two options to display the directory:

  1. On a separate page that only contains the directory.
  2. Within a page that has other content as well.

** Note: Any content under the [uw_directory] shortcode will not appear, so make sure that the directory is the last part of the page.
